The victims of verbal bullying often suffer in silence. Unfortunately, victims frequently have low self-esteem and tend to self-deprecate themselves. Doing so can lead to depression, eating disorders, a poor social life and academic failure. A major international study demonstrated that victims of verbal bullying on a daily basis are twice more at risk of developing headaches, stomach aches, backaches. Which can lead to them missing school which ultimately results in failing academically. Victims of this horrendous form of bullying often feel lonely and to deal with their loneliness, they frequently turn to abusing drugs and alcohol. At the same time, they experience low self-esteem, a complete lack of self-confidence, higher stress levels and can be depressed. While the consequences of loneliness are terrible, the consequences of depression are just as atrocious if not more. They include: suicidal thoughts (and on rare occasion’s suicidal actions), academic decline, drug abuse, relationship problems and an increased chance of developing a heart disease or back pain. The aftermath of the effects of verbal bullying isn’t pretty but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, as demonstrated by our advice and solutions on how to deal with and how to stop verbal bullying.
