Verbal bullying can take many shapes and forms : insults ; name-calling ; comments on the way you talk or dress ; threats ; sexual harassement ( homophobic comments) : ethnoculturally based comments and teasing. Here are some of the myths regarding verbal bullying.
Myth #1
''Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me''
The sad truth is, the scars inflicted by verbal abuse can last a life life-time. While on most occasion the physical scars inflicted by physical bullying go away sooner than later.
Myth #2
''That’s not bullying, they’re just teasing''
But the reality is that if you or a friend are getting ''teased '' on a daily basis, it’s no longer just teasing, it is verbal bullying.
